Murray’s Journey: From the Streets of Baku to a Life of Love

Rescued from Baku, Azerbaijan, this remarkable pup endured years of uncertainty before finding a home where he would be truly loved. Thanks to the tireless efforts of animal advocates across the world, Judy found Murray through Petfinder, and their connection was instant. But his rescue was no small feat—it took international coordination, cross-country travel, and immense dedication to bring him home to Rockford.

A Long Road Home: Murray’s Incredible Journey

🐾 Found wandering the streets of Baku, Azerbaijan, Murray spent two to three years fending for himself before being saved by Baku Street Dog Rescue.

 🐾 After undergoing much-needed eye surgery, he spent four years in a shelter, waiting for a chance at adoption.

 🐾 Judy first spotted Murray on Petfinder, and despite not realizing how far away he was, she knew he needed a home.

 🐾 Thanks to G.W.A.R.P (Good World Animal Rescue and Protection), Murray boarded a 14-hour flight from Baku to JFK International Airport, along with six other dogs—passports in paw!

 🐾 From JFK, he was picked up by Pawsitively Precious Cargo, who drove him to Rockford, Illinois, where Judy finally met him.

Murray had traveled across continents—but finally, he was home.

Love at First Sight: Judy & Murray’s Connection

In a candid interview, Judy shared what made rescuing Murray so extraordinary.

Jared: "What surprised you most about Murray when you got him?"

Judy: "How well he adapted to everything. He was so calm—it was like he already knew he belonged with me."

Jared: "How has rescuing Murray impacted your life?"

Judy: "He’s changed everything. We hike every single day—I’ve only missed two days this year! We go to the dog park, the farmers market, and thanks to him, I’ve made lifelong friends. Everyone at North End City Market knows him. I owe him so much—I’m just so happy I found him."
